Lucca Comics & Games 2003
This convention was a shit...the cosplay contest was a shit!!!;___;
We start this report this way,
because this convention - Lucca Comics 2003 -was really really horrible.
This review is divided by days.
Friday:
Even if the press received a better treatment, we can't say the same for the visitors.
the barcode ticket introduced this year slowed the entrance very much.
there weren't any relevant news about the stands of the exibitors except for the RPG and games section.
This day we had karaoke organized by Kimagure Girls (that we would like for the good show),
but the management didn't invest very much on it and relegated it to the bottom of the convention on
the same stage they'll use for the cosplay show the following days.
Therefore a lot of people didn't find the stage, plus the event got a small audience because of the rain...
Anyway the Kimagure Girls did their best to make everyone enjoy the show.
During karaoke people sang many italian and japanese anime songs.
This day there were only a few cosplayers.
other than this there weren't other important events.
Saturday:
this was the worst day.
the weather was rainy, and that was annoying, people bought tickets at the ticket offices but they weren't allowed to enter the convention
because of security reasons.
Two of our reporters had to wait five hours under the rain before entering.
The rain also leaked inside the stands causing damages.
As for the cosplay, it was a shame, the stage was outside and cosplayers and spectators were under the heavy rain.
A lot of costumes got spoiled by the water and other cosplayers retired after hearing that the contest was going to be held outdoors.
Most of the people were dissapointed by the jury's questionable choice (we agree too).
It really was a day to forget.
Sunday:
things were a little better thanks to the sun, but there were queues (lines) for the registration to the contest.
We think people should have been given a chance to register online, since we have kind of modern
technology nowadays...
That would have saved a lot of time to many cosplayers and made the work easier for the organization.
the contest of sunday was standard and it was also possible to have a music base for the show.
It's a shame for Italy that its most important comic convention was so bad organized.
The structures of the place are completely inadequate for the number of visitors it gets every year.
If something doesn't change in the next editions, this event will decline and cosplayers and con-goers will
abandon it.
Stay away from this convention...^^;;;
